We have these wonderful creatures BECAUSE of racing!!! Their careful.selective breeding have resulted in this nearly perfect animal! They have virtually no hip dysplasia, diabetes, allergies and many other congenital weaknesses. They are supreme athletes. Furthermore, the nasty-tempered dogs are purposefully not bred.... giving us these quite uniformely sweet-tempered animals. If we lost racing, this breed would degenerate into just another purebred dog and those weaknesses would start creeping in. Think about it. The dogs LOVE the racing life. They love their trainers and vice-versa. They ger better food, more exercise & more attention that most pets. That's why they are the way they are. They've had a career so they're mentally healthier that a dog with nothing to do....
So there to the racing-ban proponents!
